RUBY I.A. SEAWRIGHT (formerly MEAD) (nee NASLUND) Peacefully on March 21, 2001, Ruby Ingeborg Augusta Seawright passed away at the Oakview Place Personal Care Home. She will be sadly missed by her husband James Seawright; daughters, Ardith (Chris) Tomasson, Heather (Steve) Kane; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and her longtime friend Elsie Shiells. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Harold Mead and her three brothers and three sisters. Ruby was born in Mulvihill, Man., to Ruth and August Naslund on July 16, 1917. She came from a very musical family and, together with her brothers and sisters, could be found playing for various dances throughout the Interlake during the 1930s. In 1941 she married Harold Mead. Their first daughter Ardith was born while Harold was at war. Ruby and Harold came to Winnipeg where they had their second daughter Heather. Ruby lived on Moorgate Street in St. James for 45 years. Ruby cared for her aging parents until their death. Following Harolds death in 1967, Ruby joined the work force at Motor Coach Industries where she worked for 15 years. In 1988 she married James Seawright and together they enjoyed dancing, bowling and trips to Ireland. She and James were members of St. James Legion No. 4. Ruby was a hard worker all her lifeboth at home and in her job. She loved to play bingo with her girlfriends, enjoyed playing the organ and won many, many trophies for her bowling skills. Ruby enjoyed her visits with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will all miss her very much. A year and a half ago Rubys condition necessitated her and James moving to the Lions Centre Alzheimer Residence. There she enjoyed her weekly visits to the Adult Day Program. Three weeks ago she moved to the Oakview Place Extendicare Personal Care Home. A service to celebrate Rubys life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 26 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. Interment at Chapel Lawn. Pallbearers will be her six grandchildren, Keith, Rick and Mike Tomasson, Charlene Morin, Graham and Jeff Kane. Many thanks to the nursing staff at One-North at Oakview Place for their care and kindness. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Rubys memory to the Lions Centre Alzheimer Residence in care of 677 Portage Ave., or Oakview Place Extendicare at 2395 Ness Ave. "May the Lord watch between you and me while we are absent one from the other." We love you Mom. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
